Liêm and Khôi still unbeaten at Sharjah Masters

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Anh Khôi and Lê Quang Liêm remained unbeaten at the ongoing Sharjah Masters international chess tournament in the United Arab Emirates yesterday.

Grandmaster Liêm (Elo  二 七 一 五) tied with Ernesto Inarkiev of Russia (Elo  二 六 九 二), who tops the rankings, after  二 九 moves in the fifth round, while International Master Nguyễn Anh Khôi (Elo  二 四 八 四) tied with Grandmaster Sanan Sjugirov of Russia (Elo  二 六 六 七) after  一 九 moves.

After five rounds, Liêm dropped to sixth place out of  一 五0 players with four points, while Khôi is in  一 六th position with four points.

Liêm will next face Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan (Elo  二 五 六 九) and Khôi will take on Nihal Sarin of India (Elo  二 五 七 八).

The event, which has total prize money of US$ 六0,000, will end on Sunday. — VNS
